TOP100DJanes 2016 Poll: results, thoughts and doubts
Ladies and gentlemen, TOP100DJanes 2016 Poll came to the end, and we are ready to sum up the results of the year and determine the TOP100.
At first, we would like to note that we are like a child who is only 3 years old, making our first steps and learning from our mistakes. We believe that each year we become better and stronger thanks to our readers, our critics and maybe the most important thing is a growth of our team. Speaking of our team, we would like to thank all our partners: Dynaprod (France), Red Fusion (Asia), Audiomix (Brazil), Trugigs (India), MVManagement (Italy) for their contribution to the development of the project and our common future. We are grateful to all and especially to those who is not only a fan of a particular DJane but a fan of a club industry in general (or music) who took part in voting and helped us to identify the TOP100 and we hope that every year a number of voters will rise and this will help us to make the ranking better.
Speaking about mistakes of the last two years, the first thing was the fact that we relied solely on the results of the Poll, which greatly distorted the real balance of power among DJanes and that's why, throughout this year, we tried to keep an eye on each DJane and added them extra points on such criteria as: the number of gigs, writing/producing music, the state of the social media pages and real fans in them, as well as consulted with our representatives in different countries.
This year we want to admit that in contrast to last years, when we got mails with the name of one particular DJane, this year we received a huge number of emails with 3-5 names that greatly influenced the hit random names ranking and showed a more realistic picture of the DJs popularity.
After last year's critics, we faced an uneasy dilemma about the presence of celebrities and singers, but who are also positioning themselves as DJs in the ranking. After long discussions and thinking about all pros and cons we decided to add all, who due to fans support and general popularity received a necessary number of votes. We think it is wrong to assume that, if a girl is more popular as an actress, a public person or a singer, it will be an argument to disregard the results of the Poll and do not add her to the ranking. That way we could show disrespect to all those fan-groups which throughout the year actively encouraged fans to vote for her. Very often such people inspire young girls to be like their idols and start DJing! What is more, this year we decided to include DJanes who have got their positions in DJMAG TOP100DJs 2016.
Separately, we would like to touch upon our "idols". The idea of female DJs rankings appeared not only because of any of the world's nomination has gender difference, but also the fact that the most authoritative ranking of DJs DJMAG includes not more than 3% female DJs. We thought that it was unfair and, what is more, DJanes deserved to have their own rating!
We were very surprised by the fact, that MissK8, who for the second time takes a position in TOP100DJs, has no such popularity in a number of mails with votes in relation to other girls. We would like to emphasize, we do not have anything against Kate! We like her and consider very talented and successful artist, but if DJMAG TOP100 has no influence and just shows the level of popularity, we think it must become open or accept the truth, that people are talking about for many years. We do not claim and do not call the names of those DJanes which must also be among TOP100DJs, but don’t you think it is an appalling fact, that in the ranking where people vote for female DJs, Miss K8 takes only 29 position (by votes, without additional points)!!!!!!!!! It is obvious, at least another 10 female DJs had to be in rankings if they really rely on votes only. Anyone, who even slightly versed in statistics, understands that the probability of a mismatch in the number of votes can prevent distortion of the real results not more than 10% in comparison with those who voted on DJMAG and DJANEMAG (53107 emails, more than 150000 votes). We realize, any such rating may not reflect 100 % of the real popularity, but we should try to do our best and not to grow distrust in people to such ratings.
Like the previous year, we are going to publish 50 DJanes, the so-called close to TOP100 or TOP150DJanes. Additional 50 includes all girls who have not had enough votes to get a place among TOP100DJanes, but nevertheless, they took high and honorable places among 3000 female DJs for which we have received votes! All results will be declared in a few days on 9, November at 14 PM and 10, November at 13 PM.
We all hope this year our choice will not disappoint you and all worthy DJanes will get their rightful places!!!
