The Leeds Festival

Event: Leeds Festival 2016
Dates: Thursday 25th to Sunday 28th August 2016
Venue/location: Bramham Park, Leeds
Price: From £205

The Leeds Festival is synchronised with the Reading Festival – with both taking place over the same summer weekend. Whilst the Reading event can trace its history back to the 1970s, the Leeds party evolved from the V Festival, using the same site as this event at Temple Newsam in Leeds. The Leeds Festival kicked off in 1999 bringing together some of the best in Indie Rock and Dance and has been a feature of the summer in the North of England ever since.

Musically, the same line-up can be found at the Leeds and Reading Festivals, albeit on different days for obvious logistical reasons. There are three main stages that usually feature slightly left of centre acts, treading the careful line between too cool and too popular, which allows the event to keep its credibility whilst still attracting the big crowds.

There are all kinds of facilities on the Leeds Festival site including a supermarket for those who just suddenly decide to drop everything and go partying – allowing you to get that vital bunch of bananas for the weekend. As with many events there is the option to be a Green Messenger, where you’ll work on site, helping with recycling, in order to get your ticket massively subsidised.
